This filter is a top quality, 9 step, single-body multi-stage filter. Premium filter materials ensure production of healthier and cleaner water, trapping a wide variety of contaminants while allowing beneficial minerals to pass through. It contains Granulated Activated Carbon, which is an extremely porous material. For enhanced convenience in filter replacement, the spring-loaded filter housing makes it a snap to replace your filter.

Also called a hollow membrane filter, this filter has the same filtration that is used in kidney dialysis. It is the finest (smallest micron) domestic filter available and will remove virtually everything except for the essential alkalizing minerals. However, due to this ultra-fine filtration, it must be replaced often, every 3-6 months, depending on water quality and usage, whether or not the ionizer screen indicates the filter life has been reached. This is to ensure optimal ionization and filtration.

This .01 micron Biostone filter includes layers of calcium with magnesium plus a layer of Tourmaline. The calcium and magnesium help to slightly remineralize and naturally sweeten the water. The Tourmaline in this patented, state-of-the-art filter increases the ability of the water to carry an ionized charge. As the water passes over the Tourmaline crystals the ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) is naturally decreased and the water made more bio-available.

This filter may be substituted for the standard JD 11 .1 micron Biostone filter when ordering the Orion Water Ionizer and Delphi Under Counter Water Ionizer. Typically, with city water we recommend the standard JD11 .1 micron filter but for well water and where there is hyper-allergy issues this .01 micron filter may be right for you.

Silver is impregnated into the carbon fiber to insure that bacteria does not grow on the carbon. Since it is imbedded, or impregnated, into the carbon there is no chance of the silver leaching into the water and being consumed. Even if it was consumed, silver is NOT toxic to the body.

**A Note on ionizer water filters and fluoride:
All water ionizers remove approximately 50% of the fluoride through the ionization process. Since fluoride is an acidic mineral carrying a positive charge, about half of it is removed from the alkaline side to the acidic side of the ionized water. This reduces the amount of fluoride found in the alkaline water, which is the water we drink. Minerals are not removed from water through normal filtration. BUT WAIT - before you do, realize that water actually has some naturaly occuring fluoride and the 50% that is left may be acceptable. Check with your municipal water company. The calcium in this Biostone filter binds up with some of the fluoride creating harmless calcium fluoride, further reducing the fluoride in the ionized water.
