This Biostone one micron filter contains Activated Carbon Fiber (superior to granulated carbon) and is an extremely porous material; therefore it has an enormous surface area for contaminant absorption. Under an electron microscope, Activated Carbon Fiber looks like a porous bath sponge and the one pound used in our filter has the equivalent surface area of of approximately 150 acres (over 3 football fields)! For use in the Aquifer EC 450, Reservoir EC 550, Cascade SP 350, Affinity AQ 500 and the Everest AQ 700 Yi Shan water ionizers. Replace every 9-12 months or 10,000 liters. This one micron Biostone ionizer filter is a "flow-thru" type filter for more efficient filtration than the type that the water flows in and out of the same port. Biostone filters have Tourmaline, which slightly ionizes the water before the electrode plates. The calcium in the Biostone filter binds up some of the fluoride in the water, forming a harmless calcium fluoride.** After researching filters with experts in the water ionizer business and experts in the water filtration business, it seems that a 1 micron activated carbon fiber filter (or Biostone filter) is all we need to filter tap, bottled or well water. Finer filtration is available in our ws01 Ultra Filter .01 micron filter, but my understanding is that it is really overkill for a "paranoid" world. PLUS, don't forget, the finer the filtration, the shorter the lifespan of the filter, the higher your maintenance costs are. |

Activated Carbon Fiber is one of the best filter ingredients that can be used to reduce risks to health at a reasonable cost. The Biostone's Flow-Thru filter design allows for more efficient filtration.
This 1 micron Biostone filter includes layers of calcium with magnesium plus a layer of Tourmaline. The calcium and magnesium help to slightly remineralize and naturally sweeten the water. The Tourmaline in this patented, state-of-the-art filter increases the ability of the water to carry an ionized charge. As the water passes over the Tourmaline crystals the ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) is naturally decreased and the water made more bio-available.
Silver is impregnated into the carbon fiber to insure that bacteria does not grow on the carbon. Since it is imbedded, or impregnated, into the carbon there is no chance of the silver leaching into the water and being consumed. Even if it was consumed, silver is NOT toxic to the body.
This filter should be replaced every 9-12 months, depending on water quality and usage, whether or not the ionizer LCD screen indicates the filter life of 10,000 liters has been reached. This is to ensure optimal ionization and filtration.

All water ionizers remove approximately 50% of the fluoride through the ionization process. Since fluoride is an acidic mineral carrying a positive charge, about half of it is removed from the alkaline side to the acidic side of the ionized water. This reduces the amount of fluoride found in the alkaline water, which is the water we drink. Minerals are not removed from water through normal filtration. A very specific filter is needed to remove all the fluoride. Please call or email for information on purchasing a fluoride filter. BUT WAIT - before you do, realize that water actually has some naturaly occuring fluoride and the 50% that is left may be acceptable. Check with your municipal water company. We can help with this, so call or email if you have questions. The calcium in this Biostone filter binds up with some of the fluoride creating harmless calcium fluoride, further reducing the fluoride in the ionized water.
Additionally, pH and ORP results vary based on incoming source water and results are not guaranteed for this reason. Source water variables include pH, ORP, TDS, mineral content and temperature. These variables are applicable both to well water and municipal water sources.
