This filter contains Activated Carbon Fiber (superior to granulated carbon) and is an extremely porous material; therefore it has an enormous surface area for contaminant absorption. Under an electron microscope, Activated Carbon Fiber looks like a porous bath sponge and the one pound used in our filter has the equivalent surface area of of approximately 150 acres (over 3 football fields)! For use in the EP series water ionizers: EP 400, EP 600, EP 800, EP 1000, the Rejuvenator Genesis (EP400), Rejuvenator Oasis (EP600) and Rejuvenator Aquarius (EP800) water ionizers and the EP 400, EP 600, EP 800 and EP 1000 Gold Fox Water Ionizers. In this ionizer filter, the water goes in and up, and then back out and down through the same hose. This is a very old-style filter, and there are much better filters now - the YiShan EC "flow-thru" filters are a better design. Finer and more comprehensive filtration is available in the AlkaViva line of water ionizers and they are my preferred brand, as they can filter out pharmaceutical drugs and fluoride. |
Drink Ionized Water All Day, Every Day! Your water ionizer filter is a high quality filter, much higher quality than the common Brita or Pur filters and the common granulated charcoal pre-filters.
Activated Carbon Fiber is one of the best filter ingredients that can be used to reduce risks to health at a reasonable cost.
Silver is impregnated into the carbon fiber to insure that bacteria does not grow on the carbon. Since it is imbedded, or impregnated, into the carbon there is no chance of the silver leaching into the water and being consumed. Even if it was consumed, silver is NOT toxic to the body.
This filter should be replaced every 9-12 months, depending on water quality and usage, whether or not the ionizer screen indicates the filter life of 10,000 liters has been reached. This is to ensure optimal ionization and filtration.

All water ionizers remove approximately 50% of the fluoride through the ionization process. Since fluoride is an acidic mineral carrying a positive charge, about half of it is removed from the alkaline side to the acidic side of the ionized water. This reduces the amount of fluoride found in the alkaline water, which is the water we drink. Minerals are not removed from water through normal filtration. A very specific filter is needed to remove all the fluoride. Please call or email for information on purchasing a fluoride filter. BUT WAIT - before you do, realize that water actually has some naturaly occuring fluoride and the 50% that is left may be acceptable. Check with your municipal water company. We can help with this, so call or email if you have questions.
Additionally, pH and ORP results vary based on incoming source water and results are not guaranteed for this reason. Source water variables include pH, ORP, TDS, mineral content and temperature. These variables are applicable both to well water and municipal water sources.
